When I moved to Oslo in 2011 from Manhattan where I used to organize sake tasting events for the UN colleagues and diplomatic corps, I was shocked to find very limited selection of sake at Vinmonopolet. However I was pleasantly surprised to find sake made in Norway.
In February 2012, I first called on Kjetil at the brewery and also had hands-on Kirikaeshi experience with Brock. I was then told inspiring anecdote how the first sake brewery in Europe came into being. Thereafter, I have always included Nøgne Ø sake in my sake sommelier courses accredited by London based Sake Sommelier Association as well as in Sake tastings and trainings I conducted in Oslo, Helsinki and Tokyo.
After returning from Helsinki in March 2015, I was very pleased to have been given opportunity to join the sales team. It is a dream come true for me to introduce taste sensation of sake and needless to say, craft beer, paired with Nordic culinary delights and world famous Norwegian seafood together with dynamic cosmopolitan team.
